This year I have been on a bit of a Garfield splurge. I needed some good, light humor, and the fat cat fits the bill. This collection of strips  brings together moments when Jon Arbuckle, Garfield's owner, takes center stage. We get a deeper glimpse of what it is like to be the lovable loser nerd. The guy had dating disasters, mishaps, wardrobe malfunctions (come on, the guy just has no sense of taste when it comes to clothes), phone call bloopers, but in the end, somehow, he finally finds love with Liz the veterinarian.

This is a light and fun volume that combines comics, blog entries from Jon's blog, lists, trivia, and some additional material. The additional material does enhance the humor. Sure, Davis eventually made the cartoon about the cat, but the cat's owner is quite funny too.

4 out of 5 stars.
