Jason Rodriguez, ed., Postcards: True Stories That Never Happened. New York: Villard, 2007. ISBN: 9780345498502.
The premise of this graphic novel anthology is relatively simple: the editor got a bunch of vintage postcards, then he gave them to various artists to create stories based on the correspondence. The results vary. Some stories are soft and poignant. A few others I honest found a little sappy, but your mileage may vary on that. The volume does feature both established contributors and newcomers. Some of the authors featured include Harvey Pekar, Phil Hester, Joshua Hale Fialkov, Tom Beland, and Michael Gaydos. The art overall is good and with various artists you get a variety of styles. Overall, it was just an OK volume.
I am giving it 2.5 out of 5 stars.
