This is a collection of art by Italian artist Sergio Toppi. The book collects various examples of art from magazines and other publications, including a Tarot deck.

On a side note, the Tarot deck turns out to be the Primordial Tarot, published by Lo Scarabeo. I have the deck, but I have not worked with it yet. After I spend some time with it I will post a review here and a deck interview spread over at Alchemical Thoughts.

The color palette in the art is limited, but the images are strong, powerful, and primordial. The art features real as well as mythological creatures. It also includes humans. The text supplements the art well and creates a nice narrative.

This is a book I really like. Fans of Toppi will definitely enjoy it, but anyone who likes art with a bit of primal and wild style will probably like it too. Book may be of interest also to libraries with art and/or pop culture collections.

4 out of 5 stars
