The edition I got from the library was hardcover.

Published in 1991, this cookbook is one of those based on a specific brand, in this case Campbell's Soup. People often keep a few cans of soup, like mushroom cream soup and tomato soup, not so much to eat in a bowl as to use in recipes as filler and extender and/or flavor enhancer. This cookbook features a bit over 100 recipes ranging from quick meals to entrees and snacks all using Campbell's Soup somehow. Most of the recipes seem easy to make, often with ingredients you may have on hand or that are fairly easy to find.

The book includes an introduction with kitchen tips that may seem obvious or a bit kitsch. It also includes a small chart of food substitutions and another chart of food equivalents. In addition, it includes some nice color photographs.

Overall, I liked the book. I liked that it has recipes that seem possible to do (unlike fancier cookbooks), but it also has a certain nostalgia charm. It might be interesting to try a recipe or two (although in our modern "woke" times, some may disapprove of canned soup and its high sodium).

3 out of 5 stars.
