Short book review: Hagar the Horrible: Happy Hour

Dik Browne, Hagar the Horrible: Happy Hour. New York: Ace Tempo Books, 1982. ISBN: 0448168596.

Genre: comics
Subgenre: vikings, humor, family
Format: small paperback
Source: I own this. I got it as part of a bundle of four Hagar the Horrible books at Half Price Books.

This is a small book collecting Hagar the Horrible comic strips. Hagar is a viking, but he is also a married man with kids and faces many of the issues a family man does. The strip often looks at modern issues through Hagar, his family, and his peers, especially Lucky Eddie. I remember reading Hagar comics in newspapers here and there, so it was nice to find this book. Among the highlights are things Hagar brings home for Helga from his pillaging trips. The humor overall is light and easy. Overall, I liked it.

3 out of 5 stars.
