The Itinerant Librarian: Reading Challenges for 2017

This is the page for my 2017 Book Reading Challenges. I am doing some challenges again this year that I have done before, and I am doing some challenges new for this year. One or two challenges I wanted to repeat are no longer available, so I substituted where I could. Throughout the year, I will update my progress on these reading challenges. The overall idea is to get me to try out some new things as well as just make my reading routine over the year a bit more fun. Links for each challenge go to the challenge announcement post I made for each one where I will add the book titles, review links, and other updates.

Repeats/Doing Again:

The 10th Annual Graphic Novels and Manga Reading Challenge (2017)

Initial goal: Modern Age: read and review 12 books during the year.
Progress: 22 Read, 17 Reviewed.
Update note (9/24/17): Initial goal completed with 16 books read and reviewed. Upgrading to Bronze Age: read and review 24 books during the year.

2017 Netgalley/Edelweiss Reading Challenge:

Initial goal: Bronze = 10 books read and reviewed.
Progress: 20 Read, 18 Reviewed.
Update note: Upgraded to Silver = 25 books read and reviewed on July 14, 2017. Initial goal completed.

2017 Mount TBR Reading Challenge:

Initial goal: Pike's Peak = 12 books read and reviewed from the TBR pile.
Progress: 12 Read, 8 Reviewed.
Update note (11/30/17): I have read the 12 books to complete the challenge. 8 have been reviewed and reviews are on the blog. Of the remaining 4, 3 reviews are scheduled, and I am drafting the review of the remaining one. They should all be up by end of 2017.
Update note (1/1/18): All reviews are now published and posted. Challenge complete.

Foodies Read 2017:

Initial goal: Pastry Chef: 4 to 8 books read and reviewed.
Progress: 5 Read, 5 Reviewed.
Update note (11/30/17): With 5 books read and reviewed, challenge goal is completed.

2017 Audiobooks Challenge:

Initial goal: Newbie (I'll give it a try): 1 to 5 books read and reviewed.
Progress: 4 Read, 4 Reviewed.
Update note (11/30/17): With four books read and reviewed, challenge goal completed.

Library Love Challenge 2017:

Initial goal: Thrifty Reader: Read and review 24 books.
Progress: 24 Read, 24 Reviewed.
Update note (9/24/17): Initial challenge completed.

New Reading Challenges for 2017:

Pick Your Poison 2017 Reading Challenge:

This is a customizable challenge. I picked out three categories to focus on.
Horror Books:

Initial goal: Foxglove: 1 to 3 books read and reviewed.
Progress: 2 Read, 2 reviewed.

Books in Spanish:

Initial goal: Foxglove: 1 to 3 books read and reviewed.
Progress: 2 Read, 2 reviewed.

Science Fiction:

Initial goal: Foxglove: 1 to 3 books read and reviewed.
Progress: 3 Read, 3reviewed.

Update note (9/24/17): Initial challenge completed for all three.

Blogger Shame Review Challenge 2017:

Initial goal: 3 books read and reviewed.
Progress: 4 Read, 4 Reviewed.
Update note (11/30/17): With four books read and reviewed, challenge goal completed.

Color Coded Reading Challenge 2017:

Initial goal: There is a list of 9 color codes (see link for details).
Progress: 9 Color Codes Read, 8 Color Codes Reviewed (out of 9 color coded books).
Update note (11/30/17): With nine books read, challenge is completed. I am drafting the review for the last book, and link should be up by end of 2017.
